We went Downtown hoping to pick up a takoyaki maker for Daisy, but it's sold out!!! We now have to wait for the next shipment...grrr...sorry Daisy...guess you're getting your xmas gift as your birthday present and vice-versa...LOL!!! Anyways, since we're at Konbiniya, we must have crepes!!! (Sorry, I was too lazy to take pictures because I was still trying to wake up!) After the crepes, Buddha Boy went next door and tried a lamb shawarma (which he will blog on it later)...then...hehehe...we dropped by Gold Stone and had lunch...yups...we're piggies!!!
Buddha Boy and I each ordered a HK-Style Milk Tea (港式奶茶)...both drinks came with our combos. I have always enjoyed this tea here...always so fragrant. I like stronger tea.
Buddha Boy ordered a Ham & Shredded Chicken Fried Rice (火腿雞絲炒飯)...it's got quite a bit of chicken...but not as much ham...weird huh? Anyhow, this was Buddha Boy's choice from their Specials Menu for $7, with a choice of coffee or tea.
Buddha Boy, after all that food earlier, also ordered a Corn Beef Sandwich (鹹牛肉蛋三文治)...um...yea...and he finished it too! OMG!

The menu stated that the breakfast runs from 8am to 11am daily, but it is available throughout the whole day (but unfortunately, not the Chinese Breakfast menu). It's 2pm and I went with Breakfast B. What a great deal! For $6.50, it came with two eggs, a choice of ham/sausage/luncheon meat (bacon is also available between 8am to 11am), a choice of soup noodles listed (I had the Shredded Chicken with Macaroni in Soup, but I forgot to take a pic of this), a choice of coffee or tea, and a bun. Pretty sweet huh? Hehehe...good enough for me!!!

How did Buddha Boy find the corn beef sandwich? I always enjoy going to Goldstone, especially ordering their baked porkchop on spaghetti from their lunch specials.
ReplyDeleteSad thing that I found out is that besides in the morning, you can't order congee.
Gold Stone is actually my favorite HK Cafe!!! LOL!!! My favorite is their Pork Cutlet with Noodles in Soup...you get one cutlet for the afternoon tea menu or two for the regular menu...heheheh!
ReplyDeleteI actually never had the Chinese breakfast there...but it looked like a good deal too!!!
I think Buddha Boy must quite enjoy the sandwich since he ordered it almost every visit...right hun?
Wow, Goldstone's been there like, almost forever. Since the '80s anyway.
ReplyDeleteYou do know that the corn beef came out of a can, right ? It's likely Hereford, very popular with the HK crowd:

What, no Horlicks or Ovaltine to accompany the meal ? [wink]
I still like New Town on Pender the best. I'm old school :-)
The corned beef sandwich was good, nothing great, just pretty basic. Good amount of meat. They don't use Hereford which i'm used to (there was a texture that existed not common with Hereford). I like making this at home because i can use more egg, as well as crisping up the meat.

ReplyDeleteYea...I think they were there for the Expo...LOL!!! Actually...I totally forgot about Horlicks or Ovaltine!!! I am too used to ordering my milk tea!!! LOL!!! I like Newtown too! But Gold Stone is a bit cleaner...hahaha...that's my preference!!!
