2011-01-30 Quick Visit @ Steveston Farmers & Artisans Market

Hehehe...I think I am addicted to these farmers' markets!  These markets have so much to offer...all related to food!!!  Ok, ...maybe not all, but almost!  So, from Eli's tweet, I found out about Steveston Farmers & Artisans Market.
The market is located in the Gulf of Georgia Cannery...yups...it's an indoor market.  Next market will be on February 13th, so if you're looking for something to do on a Sunday morning, rain or shine, check it out!
ELI'S SERIOUS SAUSAGE
110 Dunsmiur Street, Vancouver, BC
604-366-0036
Eli's Serious Sausage on Urbanspoon
I spotted Eli's black and yellow umbrella (or whatever that umbrella-looking thingy is called)...so Buddha Boy suggested that we start eating from this stall...hahahah!!!
Eli's alone...no helper.  He's got a good spot with busy traffic...and busy lineups too!
The sauce station...I love the curry ketchup and that tomato & eggplant mix (not sure what he calls it)...yummy!!!
Eli was such a gentleman and let me snapped some pix of him!  Hehehehe...I told him that I shared his cuteness with some female blogPALs and I promised the ladies that I will take some photos of him...hehehe!  Eli's was quite humourous...he told me to take his pix under the sun because, as per Eli, "the sun makes my eyes sparkle!"  LOL!!!  Funny guy!
I ordered the Original German Bratwurst on a pretzel bun.  Yups...this time I didn't have to paper-rock-scissors with Buddha Boy for the pretzel bun!
Buddha Boy went with the Currywurst on a pretzel bun.

LITTLE QUALICUM CHEESEWORKS
403 Lowry's Road, Parksville, BC
250-954-3931
Little Qualicum Cheeseworks on Urbanspoon
I was so happy when I saw Little Qualicum's truck in the parking lot...that means more brie for me!!!
This time, we bought two packs of the brie and one pack of cheese curds.  Yum!
MISTY MOUNTAIN SPECIALITIES
#130 - 13900 Maycrest Way, Richmond, BC
604-273-8299

As we were walking out...we noticed the table of mushrooms.  At first we were just browsing like nosy customers, but then we quickly realized that it's Mushroom Boy's table!  Mushroom Boy and Buddha Boy go way back...since their school years!  Yups...they're both old...hahahahaha!

Please click on picture for larger view.  For more information about Mushroom Boy's products, please visit Misty Mountain Specialties.  And no...he's not the guy that's listed under "About Us"...hahahaha!
Mushroom Boy was very generous and "supported" our blog with some of his products...first was the Porcini Powder.  Actually, we had the cash in our hands and we were ready to grab (the mushrooms) and toss (the money on the table) and run...but our beautiful Buddha-figures weren't very flexible and fast...hahahaha!
Next was the Truffle Oil...we sniffed the sample bottle and it was so fragrant!  A very "fresh" smell.  We will do a comparison one of these days with the one we bought from Gourmet Warehouse.
Last, but not the least, Portobello Mushrooms.  These were more "plump" and "meaty" compared to the ones I bought from T&T...but, to be fair, I will compare the two again in the future at the same time...side-by-side...hehehehe!
OVENMONKEY BAKERY
Various Locations, Coquitlam, BC
778-867-8852
Ovenmonkey Bakery on Urbanspoon
As we were leaving the market, we went for more food!  Something different...something called Langos.
Langos is a Hungarian deep-fried flat bread.  Traditionally, this "snack" was baked in a brick oven, however, nowadays, people rarely have brick ovens, therefore, deep-frying langos became the modern day norm.
Buddha Boy ordered the Garlic & Cheese Langos...this tasted good!  Though a bit salty...but it was so tasty!  It kinda reminded us of a deep-fried Chinese donut (炸油條).  I suggested to Buddha Boy that next time, let's order a langos from Ovenmonkey and wrap an original German bratwurst from Eli's, then top it with chicken chili from Chili Tank...heheheheh!  Mmm...drooling...hehehehehe!
