Benkei Ramen (Robson) on Urbanspoon
Gloria from Fork or Chopstick sent me a text last night and asked to hook up for lunch today.  Funny thing was, I actually never really met her...well, other than the time that I dropped off a smoked duck for her (which was a brief meet, less than three minutes).  We knew each other simply because she's been following our blog (and recently started her own), but we have been exchanging emails, texts, tweets, and even Facebook messages, yup, we're crazy!  LOL!  Buddha Boy is jealous because I'm attracting all the beautiful young girls (i.e. Elaine from O My Sweet Tooth and Gloria)...hahahahaha!
I went for a spicy miso Akaoni Ramen.  The richness of the pork broth combined with fragrance of the miso...mmm...yummy!  The soup was not salty and the miso did not overpower the pork broth.  The ramen had just the right crunch (al dente).  Overall it's good, but I'm not a big fan of ground pork in soup noodles, plus it's not spicy enough for me.
Gloria ordered the heavy tonkotsu Shio Ramen.  The noodles had the same good crunch as mine.  The soup was light yet flavorful, and I just love the richness of the broth...YUM!!!  Overall, the experience here was much better than Hokkaido Ramen Santouka.

    I'll remember to ask if they can make it extra spicy since I like things with some heat too!

  2. I never get the ground pork because I don't eat onions LMAO and to take away the onions apparently they have to take away the ground pork too hahaha!

    Can you tell BB to attract some young, good-looking men? So I can meet them? LMAO!

    @sarah

    Good idea!!! I will do so next time too...more spicy please!!! Hahahaha! But it may not be good because the broth would be tampered too much. Oooh you love spicy too? We should gather a group of SPICY lovers and go for hot pot!!!

  8. I was so glad to finally meet you BuddhaGirl! I can't wait to meet BuddhaBoy...you want to try MY honey toast? ;] I smell a competition...

    I prefer the Akaoni>Shio. Sesame oil+ ground pork=delish. I prefer the broth at Hokkaido but value-wise I would go for Benkei, plus tea is free!
