2011-03-13 Hot Pot @ Chez Buddha

Recently, in many Taiwan food blogs, there's this fad of coconut curry hot pot...rather than heading out for it, I asked Buddha Boy to try making it at home...this was also to prepare for our first "home" event coming up in two weeks...hehehehe!
Buddha Boy's ingredients: lemongrass, lime leaves, green curry paste, coconut milk, chili peppers, (not shown), fish sauce (not shown), and chicken stock (not shown).

Simple chicken stock base on the left with Buddha Boy's coconut curry base on the right.  Actually, we had hot pot two days in a row.  The curry base on the first night was a bit bland.  It had a good fragrance from the lemongrass and the lime leaves, but it was lacking the flavors of curry and coconut milk.  With minor tweaks, Buddha Boy's curry base on day-two was better.
Since I couldn't find any seafood at home, I decided to open up one of MomJ's cans of Abalone (鮑魚)...hahahaha!  Yea...I am not a big fan of these luxury items, but once a while, I don't mind...hahahahaha!
Pretty standard selections...but have you noticed?  We actually had more veggies this time!!!  LOL!!!

  1. Abalone in hotpot? How does that taste?
I can not wait to try the coconut curry ^^
Oh~have you tried chinese donut (油條) with your hotpot? It's so good, absorbs everything. Plus, anything fried is usually good.
