It was another vegetarian day for me. I decided to drive into Richmond and check out this vegetarian shop that I spotted a little while back. This place is located in the industrial area near No.6 Road in Richmond.
A Taiwanese-owned shop that has products sold in a lot of supermarkets, including T&T Supermarket 大統華超級市場. Yes, it's all vegetarian and it's mostly Taiwanese Buddhist/Taoist-style food.
$8.50 for a pack of ten Pan-Fried Bun 水煎包 (left) and $4.80 for a pack of Chinese Pie 燒餅 (right). The buns had cabbage, mushrooms and black fungus. The bun was a bit doughy, but tasted okay. We have not yet tried the shao-bing.
$5.30 for a pack of four Rice Pastry 筒仔米糕 (left) and $5.30 for a pack of Chinese Donuts 油條 (right). The rice has not been touch yet...I kinda forgot about it...hahaha! The Chinese donut was bit doughy, but was not as doughy as those typical HK ones. The donuts were frozen, so just thaw and crisp in oven when desired...also great for hot pots.
Just as I was walking out, the kitchen brought out a tray of Red Rice Roll 紅米飯糰. The roll had Chinese donut 油條, preserved vegetable 榨菜, sour vegetable 酸菜, preserved daikon 菜脯 and vegetarian floss 菜鬆. The rice is a mix of red rice and glutinous rice. Taste-wise...well, let's just say I've had better.
Unfortunately, they only have their menu in Chinese, but the owner seemed to speak okay English. I forgot to take a picture of their business hours, so if you do plan to visit, please call and check the hours first.
