Joyeaux Cafe & Restaurant on Urbanspoon
After colleagues' horrifying pho experience at Komi Sushi, DonkeyKong and MetroBoy wanted something good to erase the bad memory.  DonkeyKong suggested Joyeaux Cafe, one of her go-to places for a reasonable meal in downtown.
We arrived twenty minutes before noon on a Friday and this place was pretty packed.  After we ordered, one staff helped us finding a table.  On weekdays, this restaurant is not a place for you to sit and chat while you eat, it's pretty much a eat-and-run joint.
We ordered two appetizers to share.  The Spring Rolls was a mix of meat, shrimp and vegetables.  Nothing noteworthy except being simple and good.  Something I'd order again.
The Deep Fried Shrimp Balls with Corn Flakes was a disappointing dish.  The balls had no crunch, in fact, they were "foamy" and tasted a bit off.  Not recommended.
I had the Lemongrass Chicken on Steam Rice.  The chicken was grilled nicely with a noticeable lemongrass taste.  This was good yet cheap (for downtown) and I'd eat this on a regular basis.
MetroBoy enjoyed his Beef Noodle Soup (left), aka. beef pho.  While it's miles better than Komi Sushi and he'd have it again, MetroBoy stated that it's incomparable to any place along Kingsway.  DonkeyKong had the Beef Brisket Noodle Soup (right) but she was weak and couldn't finish her bowl.
